UNICEF estimates 140 million children globally live without parental care. Most are in institutions, even though family-based care produces far better outcomes.

Africa carries one of the heaviest burdens of child care crisis. Egypt, at its heart, shoulders responsibility for the MENA region’s largest orphan population.

Many leave care at 18 with no family support, no savings, and no preparation. Sanad works to change this from the root.

We don’t just support individual children — we transform the entire alternative care ecosystem: developing care homes, empowering caregivers, facilitating Kafala, and preparing youth for life after care.

WHAT WE DO

Three pillars. One mission.

Our programs work across every layer of the care system — from preventing family breakdown to advocating for national reform.

Prevention

Strengthening families before crisis. We work with at-risk families to prevent unnecessary separation and keep children with their biological or extended kin.

Protection

Ensuring quality alternative care. We develop care homes, train and empower caregivers, and facilitate Kafala so every child grows up in a nurturing family environment.

Advocacy

Driving national reform. We influence policy and systems so the whole ecosystem of alternative parental care improves for generations of children to come.
